"The Corelli School is to take all steps to develop excellence in the performing and visual arts, combined with academic achievement, in a select group of young people."
The dedicated dance timetable allows for; classical exercises, set works and contemporary movement and many performance related works.
Students will be prepared for examinations in the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus. The Royal Academy of Dance is internationally recognised and acclaimed for high standards of training and developing young dancers. The Corelli School will also afford the opportunity to develop an understanding of other recognised methods of training such as Jazanova, Cechetti and Bourneville to enable students to be versatile and adaptable performers. The focus is on training dancers to be able to adapt and meet the changing demands of dance internationally.
Students will learn and perform variations and corps de ballet works from the traditional classical repertoire. The aim is to develop an understanding and appreciation of ballet history, develop a sense of artistry and performance and foster an understanding of the demands of a dance career whilst learning basic stage-craft.
Today's dancers must be able to work in a variety of styles. Versatility and the ability to perform a varied repertoire are the requirements of every international dance company. Corelli students will be given the opportunity to meet these demands through (comprehensive) cutting edge contemporary dance training.
