Terms and Conditions of Pupil Attendance at the The Corelli School - Version 13

The following terms and conditions have been established to ensure the highest degree of education, safety and efficiency available to pupils attending this very special learning establishment. Any questions or comments regarding the operation of Corelli School should be addressed, preferably in writing, to the Corelli School Principal. The purpose of these conditions is to ensure that no misunderstandings exist or will develop between the Corelli School and its pupils.

A high standard of education provided in all fields has to be met by some controls over pupil behaviour, which could prove disruptive to the advancement of other pupils or the Corelli School.

Reference is made in the following Terms and Conditions to the expectations of the Corelli School in this regard.

Fees:

  • An enrollment fee of $650.00 per pupil is payable on confirmation from the Corelli School of acceptance for tuition. This is an Administration fee and is non-refundable.

  • A bond of $2,500.00 is payable one month prior to commencement of tuition. This bond will be refunded in full within one month of completion of a pupil’s tuition at the Corelli School, less any outstanding fees or amounts owing from damage to school property/resources, or library books not returned. The bond is non-interest bearing.

  • Written notice is required to withdraw a pupil from the Corelli School. At least one full term in advance of the withdrawal of the pupil, or pay a fee equivalent to a full term’s fees. Below are the cut-off dates for appropriate notice to be given.

15th January for Term 2 withdrawal 15th April for Term 3 withdrawal

15th July for Term 4 withdrawal 15th October for Term 1 withdrawal

  • As with all other Private Schools, Corelli has a NO REFUND Policy for International FFP (Foreign Fee Paying) students; unless in extenuating circumstances. Your visa is issued on the proviso that you attend The Corelli School ONLY. (For further information, please refer to the refund section in the International Handbook.)

  • In the case of new pupils, the cut-off date, for intention to withdraw a pupil from the next term, will be extended by one month, (e.g. if your child starts on 15th July and you wish to withdraw your child for the following term, the last day for appropriate notice to be given will be the 15thAugust, etc.)

  • In the event that a pupil is withdrawn from the Corelli School during a term, a pro-rata refund of term fees will be made provided one term’s notice (at least 12 weeks) of intention to withdraw is given. The refund will be made on the basis of the availed time spent at Corelli, plus one month being deducted from the total term fee.

  • School fees will be reviewed annually and may be changed from time to time, subject to one term’s notification being given, of intention to change. These fees cover general classroom tuition and specialist Music, or Dance, or Drama, or Visual Arts tuition, only. The fees do not include any additional costs incurred for: music books, CD’s, textbooks, external examinations, accompaniment for external examinations, class trips, or specific tuition etc., apart from those mentioned above.

  • Payment Options: Option 1: Payment in full for the year: 12% discount shall apply on fees paid in full by 30th November for the following year.

Option 2: Quarterly billing: 10 % discount shall apply to fees paid in four instalments on, or before:

1st December (for Term 1), 1st March (for Term 2), 1st June (for Term 3), and 1st September (for Term 4) NB If payments are made past the due date; the standard fees shall apply and then incur 2% interest per month.

Option 3: 10 Monthly instalments February-November: These must be paid by Automatic Payment into the school’s account. Due 1st of February and every consecutive 1st of the month, with a final payment for the year on 1st November. 10% is added to the standard fees for the year -The school reserves the right to charge 2% interest per month on overdue invoices.

  • Internet: An additional payment of $65.00 per term, per pupil, is charged to cover basic stationery requirements, Internet usage and photocopying. Each student is expected to provide their own pencils, pens, rulers etc.

  • All musical scores, dance C.D.’s, drama support material, examination fees, field trips, external sports costs etc., are additional to tuition fees.

  • Development Fund: A payment of $250 per family, per annum, will be payable for the development of the classroom/arts/social areas of the school. This is to maintain the high standard of presentation the school has with its working environment.

  • Consumables: There is a charge of $320.00 per year for consumables for the ‘IGCSE’ Art course. This is spread over 4 payments of $80.00 per term, per year. There is also a charge of $400.00 per year, for consumables for ‘AS’ and ‘A Level’ Art Courses. Any additional consumables used above the annual allowance, will be invoiced separately.

  • The Corelli School reserves the right to terminate tuition under the following circumstances;
  1. Where a student is persistently truanting.

  2. If a student’s behaviour is of an unacceptable level on a consistent basis. (An ‘acceptable level of behaviour’ would be seen as following the school rules and code of conduct.)

  3. If an enrolment application is found to be inaccurate in any way.

  4. *Where fees have not been paid.

  • The school reserves the right to charge 2% interest per month on overdue accounts. *After week four (4) of any term, if fees remain outstanding, the school reserves the right to terminate tuition. In cases involving the school’s debt collection agency, the agency’s recovery charges will be added to any outstanding invoices that are 30 days overdue. The school also reserves the right to withhold examination results (ABRSM, Trinity, CIE etc.) if an account is in arrears. Results will only be given out once an account is paid in full.

  • Fees cover the following;

a) All academic tuition for the full school year.

b) Dance, or Drama, or Music, or Visual Arts tuition from week 2 of Term 1, through to the penultimate week of Term 4.
  • For parents requesting additional lessons for their children in music, i.e. a third study, (not covered by the standard Music programme), there is an additional fee charged.

  • A sibling discount also applies, i.e. 5% if you have two enrolled children and 7.5% for three or more children enrolled. Please note that this only applies if ALL siblings are FULL fee paying and is only applied to Tuition fees.

  • Please note that pupils receiving scholarships, or pupils on the sponsored academic programme, do not qualify for any additional discounts. (This includes sibling discounts.)

ESOL Classes:

ESOL classes are provided free of charge to all overseas students who are deemed, after assessment, to require such lessons to improve their level of spoken and written English. Students from Year 9 – 12 are expected to have an English Reading Age of at least 9 upon entry, determined by various assessments. (Holborn Reading Scale, Burt Word Test and Running Records based on age appropriate material from the Journal library.) Students younger than Year 9 must have had some introduction to the English language, so that by the time they reach year 9, all ESOL students will have reached a 9 year old reading age, at least.

Hire Instruments:

The facility exists through the Corelli School to hire out instruments to pupils for the purposes of their studies.

All hire instruments are hired out at the rate of $65.00 per term.

In the event of instruments being returned prior to the end of term, a refund of the remainder of the hire fees will be made.

Hire instruments must be maintained in excellent condition and any instrument returned from hire in a lesser condition will result in adjustments being made to any refunds.

If hire instruments are not returned at the termination of tuition, the retail price of the instrument will be deducted from the bond. (As above)

Corelli School Rules:

The rules established by the Corelli School are printed in the Policy Document and must be obeyed at all times.

A copy of the Policy Document is available for perusal at the Reception Desk at the Corelli School and, if required, copies of relevant portions may be made available for personal records.

Included in the Corelli School Rules are statements relating to the Rights of Individuals, the Rights of the School, including Disciplinary Actions if required, and circumstances which may lead to the standing down, suspension or expulsion of pupils.

The Corelli School reserves the right to suspend for a definite or indefinite period of time a student who is involved in theft, violence (physical or verbal), vandalism, or the use or possession of drugs, alcohol or tobacco.

School Uniform:

The wearing of Corelli School uniform, as specified, is part of school rules and is compulsory during school hours by all pupils. All pupils must enter and leave the school building in full school uniform. In the event that a pupil fails to complete the term of tuition, the Corelli School may, at its discretion, purchase back from the pupil such items of uniform for a sum not exceeding 50 percent of the original purchase price.

The Corelli School is prepared to discuss and clarify any items of the above Terms and Conditions with pupils or their parents.
